Assistive technology

What is Assistive Technology?

"Any device or system that allows an individual to perform a task that they would otherwise be unable to do, or increases the ease and safety with which the task can be performed."

Treloar's Direct is based on long-established teamwork - experienced assistive technology engineers and therapists working alongside each other.

We have invested heavily in assistive technology and now have a department of experienced engineers and technicians. Since our aim is to enable students with disabilities to learn and gain independence, assistive technology is an essential tool.

It supports greater independence by helping young people perform tasks that they previously couldn't - or had great difficulty in doing. It also helps individuals with many different types of disabilities - from cognitive problems to physical impairment. Assistive technology focuses on enabling young people to use their abilities to work around their disabilities.

Our assistive technology engineers work with our therapists to precisely identify students' learning problems, discover their strengths and bypass areas of difficulty. Assistive technology compensates for a student's skills deficits and areas of disability.
