The simple ability to communicate our thoughts and feelings is one of life's most treasured gifts. Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC) is a vital part of our assistive technologists' solutions. It provides communication methods that can enhance or even replace verbal language.
Our systems range from low-tech, through light-tech and up to advanced high-tech approaches. The Treloar's Direct Trailblazer is fortunate to be stocked with all recognised AAC hardware and software.
In addition to numerous off-the-shelf devices, our assistive technology team has developed a large number of bespoke devices to meet individual needs, all of which are available from the Trailblazer.
A combination of these programmes and devices can transform the lives of frustrated students who find it hard to maximise their true potential.
Following assessments in the Trailblazer, our team make recommendations on action required to overcome their problems. Where hardware and software are recommended, information is provided on suppliers and costs. If student and staff training are necessary, these costs are quoted on a time basis.
