Therapies
Treating young people with respect
The Trailblazer allows our therapists to undertake very comprehensive assessements. We cover all aspects of therapy and recommend appropriate treatments for individuals with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
Speech & language therapists (SLTs) address speech and vocal production, swallowing difficulties and language needs through a variety of therapies. They help students optimise their communication abilities to access education, build social relationships and develop independence skills. SLTs work closely with technologists to access the best Alternative & Augmentative Communication systems.
Occupational therapists help students to become as independent and mobile as possible to carry out everyday tasks. Key areas include seating & mobility, access, personal care & hygiene, feeding equipment and hand function.
Our physiotherapists develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability. Their programmes integrate each student's individual physical needs into all aspects of their daily lives for a consistent approach to moving, handling, postural management and mobility. They also encourage students to take greater responsibility for their own physiotherapy.
After assessments, we follow an holistic approach. Therapists work together to compile a report highlighting needs and recommending programmes to improve students' lives. These recommendations can be carried out at the student's school or college, and contain all cost and staffing information.
